Home Support Providers Bill

In a significant week for the Homecare sector in Ireland, the Home Support Providers Bill has passed through both houses of the Oireachtas, led by Minister of State for Older People and Housing Kieran O’Donnell TD. This is a welcome development by all Approved Homecare Providers, as it will ensure minimum standards are enforced across the sector. Under this Bill, for the first time in Ireland, all Home Support Providers will be regulated.

The legislation is an essential first step in delivering on the Programme for Government commitment to design a statutory homecare scheme to allow people to stay in their home for as long as possible.
