Older People and their family members understandably have many questions when it comes to arranging homecare and how it all works.  Below we have tried to provide clear answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Yes, our Care Mananger is a Regisetered Nurse with years of Nursing experience in the Community as well as in Hospital settings. The delivery of homecare is carried out by Heathcare Assistants who are working in a non-medical capacity

All our Carers either already hold the recognised QQI Level 5 qualification in homecare or are working towards this. Fluent English and a valid working visa are also a requirement. Our Carers are Garda Vetted and reference checked and in possession of an up to date People Moving and Handling Certificate. As part of their induction training, all Emerald Carers are also issued with a Carer Handbook outlining all of all our policies and procedures that must be followed.

Yes, Emerald Homecare is an Approved HSE Provider, as such we can provide the hours that you or your loved one has been awarded as part of a homecare package. We can also provide additional privately-funded hours should you need these.

Home Support hours are awarded following an assessment by your Public Health Nurse, and then approval by the local Home Support Office. Home Supports are not means-tested, but awarded based on clinical need as assessed by the Public Health Nurse. So the first step is to contact your Public Health Nurse via your local HSE Health Centre to ask for an assessment.
